TOTAL PERFORMANCE SPEED SHOP
Our most recent addition to out performance family is Total Performance Speed Shop. The Speed Shop has the feel of an old school speed shop but don't be fooled. We have all the modern goodies as well and are proud to deal in over 500 different suppliers complete lines of products! Having a speed shop at our facility guarantees that we are current on all of the newest trends, techniques and styles to make sure your project is at the top of its class.
Our diverse group of Total Performance craftsman and women ensure you a superior experience. Our in house upholstery, paint and fabrication facility add continuity to your project that is far above the competition.
Here's a bit of history that got us to where we are today;
As a very young boy Aaron Cushman was a huge drag racing and motorsports fan. Living miles from the famous Laguna Seca Raceway and not far from Fremont, Famoso and Sears Point it seemed to be always calling. While the other kids wanted to be cops and firemen, all Aaron wanted to do is feel the rumble of the nitro cars as they spooled up the RPM's rolling through the traps achieving MPH that the folks in the stands could never even dream of. Hear the chirping of the tires as Parnelli Jones banged the gears coming around the cork screw at Laguna.
Growing up Aaron spent all the time he could at the drag strip, first as a fan, though that made him grow that much more restless. He wanted the experience of being involved. Aaron was surrounded by very talented drivers, mechanics, tuners and builders. Not only in his own family and extended family, but he was in a "perfect storm" of fate guiding him to where his passion was. Aaron as a teen spent all of his spare time learning to both respect the sport and how to master it. Wrenching on cars made him more aware of what it would take to drive and to win each pass. In the pits area, winning made Aaron and his services very desirable. Before long Aaron was spending time on quite a few of the competitors cars setting them up and tuning them to win. What was a necessity for him, working on his car because he couldn't afford to pay others to do so. Became a fantastic new avenue for him.
Fast forward to Butch in his late thirties he had fully found his nitch. He found that many of the drivers that Butch used to sit around their pits as a kid wanted there glory days cars restored or recreated. They came to Butch because they trusted him to do the job right and with the same care and attention to detail they would put into the car. Butch loves the opportunity to restore these great cars from the heyday of the sport and to pay tribute to the guys that really pioneered us through all of the crazy times to where we are today.
Total Performance Motorsports was founded on this premise. Paying homage to the drivers and the cars that made the motorsports industry what it is today. Preserving the history of the hobby for future generations to learn from. We have expanded to doing custom fab on full street rod and muscle car builds as well as research and development for major industry players. We also use our expertise for a customers behalf at auctions for buyers as well as sellers.
1964 was the middle of Fords Total Performance program. Everything about what Ford and Mercury was offering during those years screams awesome! From the Thunderbolts, lightweight Falcons and Comets and Galaxies' on the strip to The Shelby program beating up on the continent of Europe in the 24hrs of Lamans! Butch is a huge fan of these cars and personally collects Total Performance Fords among others.
We grew into much more than vintage drag car restoration as our work became more well known. Today we work on all makes of vintage automobiles and do everything from complete high end restorations to specific modifications.
